Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has challenged President Bola Tinubu to make the financial records of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited public and disclose the sources funding his political activities.
Atiku said Nigerians deserve greater transparency from the Federal Government, particularly regarding the management of the country’s oil resources and public finances.
He questioned the transparency surrounding NNPCL operations and urged the administration to provide Nigerians with clear information on the company’s revenues, expenditures and financial commitments.
The former vice president also demanded that Tinubu explain the sources of funding for his political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Atiku argued that public officials should be accountable to citizens and that transparency was essential to strengthening public confidence in government institutions.
He said the government should not only make promises about accountability but also demonstrate it by opening relevant financial records for public scrutiny.
The statement comes amid growing political tension ahead of the 2027 elections, with opposition figures increasingly demanding greater scrutiny of the Federal Government’s finances and political spending.
Atiku maintained that Nigerians have the right to know how public resources are being managed and who is financing political campaigns.
