The village head of Aujarawar Alkali in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Ahmad Yakubu Ahmad, has reportedly been killed by his abductors.

Ahmad was abducted on September 17, 2026, after gunmen invaded the community at night and took him to an unknown location. His death was reported on Wednesday after his remains were recovered from a shallow grave in Danladin Gezawa.

A resident, Musa Garba, said the traditional ruler was allegedly tortured before he was killed. According to him, the abductors buried his remains in the shallow grave, where they were discovered four days later by villagers.

The remains were reportedly identified by the deceased’s wife and taken to a hospital. Funeral prayers were subsequently conducted at about 3pm on Wednesday before his burial.

The incident has heightened concerns over insecurity in rural communities in the area. Earlier reports had quoted traditional authorities as appealing to security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the village head and protect residents.

As of the latest report, the Kano State Police Command had not issued a formal statement on the reported killing.
