The Federal Government has announced plans to support the Aba textile cluster and strengthen agricultural development as part of efforts to boost local production and create more economic opportunities.

The initiative is expected to support manufacturers and textile operators in Aba, Abia State, while improving access to resources needed to expand production and increase employment.

The government also plans to strengthen the agricultural sector through measures aimed at improving productivity, supporting farmers and promoting value addition.

The Federal Government said the interventions are part of broader efforts to promote industrialisation, reduce dependence on imported goods and encourage locally produced products.

The textile industry remains an important part of Nigeria’s manufacturing sector, providing employment and supporting businesses involved in garment production, footwear and related activities.

The planned support for the Aba cluster is also expected to help businesses improve their production capacity and contribute more to the national economy.
