Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised 16 terrorists and repelled coordinated attacks on military positions in Adamawa State.
The operations were conducted between September 30 and October 1 across Sector 4 of the Joint Operations Area, according to the military.
In the Boima general area of Gombi Local Government Area, troops reportedly ambushed a terrorist enclave, killing 16 terrorists. The troops recovered three AK 47 rifles, two pump action rifles, one Dane gun, six AK 47 magazines and a belt of pump action cartridges.
The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai also carried out a precision air strike after surveillance detected about 16 terrorists and 15 motorcycles gathered under a tree canopy in the area. The military said the strike recorded a direct hit, with some surviving terrorists fleeing the scene.
Meanwhile, terrorists launched coordinated attacks on military positions at 226 Battalion in Garkida and 232 Battalion in Garaha. The troops repelled the attacks and forced the attackers to withdraw.
However, three soldiers were killed during the engagements, while wounded personnel were evacuated for medical treatment.
The military said follow up and mop up operations were ongoing across the affected areas, urging residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies.
