The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 60 year old man, Abdullahi Abubakar, for allegedly kidnapping a 16 year old boy, Usman Dauda, in Zigau Village, Shira Local Government Area of the state.
The command said the teenager was rescued unhurt during the operation.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, said the incident was reported at about 10 pm on September 28, 2026, after the victim’s father informed the Yana Divisional Police Headquarters that his son had been abducted from Misau town to Bangala Village.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly intended to take the teenager to Kano for reasons yet to be established.
Following the report, detectives mobilised to the area, rescued the victim and arrested Abubakar. The teenager was subsequently taken to General Hospital Yana for medical examination.
The police said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly confined the victim in his room for a day without proper feeding.
The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, Sani Omolori Aliyu, directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation and prosecution.
The command also urged residents to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to support efforts to protect lives and property.
