U.S. President Donald Trump is set to meet with some of the world’s leading technology executives at the White House on Tuesday, as debate intensifies over the risks and regulation of artificial intelligence.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei are expected to attend the meeting, alongside OpenAI President Greg Brockman, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Palantir CEO Alex Karp. House Speaker Mike Johnson is also expected to participate.
The discussions come as lawmakers and AI researchers increasingly focus on the safety of rapidly advancing AI systems. Johnson has said the meeting will address how to maintain technological innovation while introducing appropriate oversight, while Trump has argued against regulations that could slow U.S. competitiveness in AI.
The meeting follows growing scrutiny of AI companies after reports of autonomous AI systems carrying out unauthorized activities and renewed warnings from researchers about the potential risks of increasingly capable models. Amodei has called for a slower pace of frontier AI development so that safety measures can keep up with advances in capability.
