Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has declared that no school-age child will be allowed to roam the streets during school hours as part of efforts to improve education and reduce the number of out-of-school children in the state.
Fintiri said his administration was committed to ensuring that every child of school age has access to education and is encouraged to remain in school.
The governor stated that the government would work with relevant agencies, traditional rulers, parents and community leaders to identify children who are not attending school and address the factors responsible for their absence.
He stressed that education remained a major priority of his administration, noting that keeping children in school would help prepare them for productive futures and contribute to the development of Adamawa State.
Fintiri also urged parents and guardians to take responsibility for ensuring that their children attend school regularly, warning against allowing school-age children to spend school hours roaming the streets.
He said the government would continue to invest in schools, improve learning conditions and support policies aimed at increasing school enrolment and retention across the state.
The governor maintained that the success of the initiative would require cooperation from all stakeholders, particularly parents, teachers and community leaders.
