Troops operating under Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled abduction attempts and rescued 10 kidnapped victims during security operations in Zamfara State.
The operations formed part of sustained efforts by security forces to disrupt terrorist and bandit activities across the North-West and prevent attacks on civilians and travellers.
In one of the operations, troops responded to reports of an attack on commuters and engaged the assailants, forcing them to abandon their victims and flee. The rescued persons were subsequently taken to safety.
The military has continued to intensify patrols and intelligence-driven operations across vulnerable communities and major road corridors in Zamfara and neighbouring states. Security forces have also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely information on suspicious movements.
The latest rescue underscores the continued security challenges facing communities in the North-West, where kidnapping and armed attacks have remained a major concern.
Authorities have said sustained military operations, community cooperation and improved intelligence gathering remain central to disrupting criminal networks and protecting lives and property across the region.
