Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has approved the appointment of eight new district heads to fill vacant traditional positions across the state.
The appointments followed recommendations by the Sokoto Sultanate Council, according to a statement signed by the Secretary of the Sultanate Council, Sa’idu Maccido.
Those appointed are Salihu Kadadi as Sarkin Arewan Kadadi, Isah Gidan Madi as Ausan Gidan Madi, and Gidado Dabagi as Sarkin Gabas Dabagin Ardo.
Others are Hayatu Dallatu as Uban Kasar Tudun Wada, Abdullahi Muhammed Danchadi as Sarkin Zamfaran Danchadi, Umar Shehu Goronyo as Sarkin Gabas Goronyo, Kabiru Marafa as Ajiyan Tsaki, and Muhammadu Buhari as Ardon Wajake.
The statement said the formal turbaning ceremony for the newly appointed traditional rulers would be conducted by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, at a later date.
The Sultan and the Sultanate Council congratulated the appointees and urged them to justify the confidence placed in them by contributing to peace and development in their respective communities.
The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Sokoto State Council, also congratulated Hayatu Dallatu, one of its members, on his appointment as District Head of Tudun Wada.
