Nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League champions Enyimba ended their four-match losing streak after playing out a goalless draw against Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday.
The result handed the People’s Elephant their first point of the 2026/27 NPFL campaign after a difficult opening four matches had left them at the bottom of the standings.
Enyimba travelled to Kano seeking a response following their 3-2 defeat to Sporting Lagos in their previous outing. That loss extended their poor run to four consecutive defeats.
Before the Sporting Lagos setback, Enyimba had suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Inter Lagos, making it two successive losses against newly promoted teams.
However, the Aba-based club showed greater defensive resilience against Kano Pillars, keeping a clean sheet against a side that had scored 10 goals in its opening four league matches.
Although Enyimba failed to find the net themselves, the point represents an improvement after a difficult start to the season and provides some encouragement ahead of their next fixture.
The People’s Elephant will now return home on Wednesday to face Shooting Stars as they continue their search for a first league victory of the campaign.
Shooting Stars will also be looking to respond after suffering a defeat in their match-day five encounter against Warri-based opposition on Sunday.
The Oluyole Warriors currently occupy 16th position and have recorded two victories this season.
Enyimba will hope to build on their improved defensive performance in Kano and turn it into a winning result when they welcome Shooting Stars in their next NPFL fixture.
