Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has dismissed comparisons between him and former Anambra State Governor and 2027 presidential candidate Peter Obi, saying there is no area in which Obi is superior to him.
Umahi made the remarks on Thursday in Benin City during the “Operation Rescue Benin-Asaba Road” event. He said any comparison should consider their family backgrounds, intellectual capacity, records of service and contributions to the South-East.
The minister also said the Igbo would eventually produce Nigeria’s president but argued that, in his view, the time had not yet come. He stated that it was currently the turn of President Bola Tinubu.
Umahi further defended his support for the Tinubu administration, saying he and other government officials would continue to respond to criticism of the President and his government.
He also announced that the 136-kilometre Benin-Asaba dual carriageway would be redesigned with reinforced concrete pavement following difficulties with the existing concession arrangement.
