The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate in Zamfara State, Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa, has pledged to tackle banditry and other forms of insecurity in the state within his first tenure if elected governor in the 2027 general elections.
Marafa said he would give himself a specific timeframe to address insecurity, stressing that he would resign from office if he failed to deliver on the promise.
Speaking about his plans for the state, the former senator and commissioner said the security challenges confronting Zamfara could be addressed within a relatively short period if given adequate attention and seriousness.
He argued that authorities had not given the fight against banditry sufficient attention, adding that his experience in both the state government and National Assembly had given him an understanding of the challenges facing Zamfara.
Marafa stated that his administration, if elected, would prioritise security while also focusing on sectors that directly affect women, youths and other residents.
He urged Zamfara residents to support his party and its candidates in the 2027 elections, saying his administration would pursue peace, stability and development across the state.
The pledge comes amid continuing security concerns in Zamfara and other parts of the North-West, where banditry and kidnapping remain major issues for communities and authorities.
