U.S. electric vehicle maker Lucid Group and European mobility platform Bolt have partnered to deploy at least 25,000 fully autonomous vehicles across Europe, marking a major push into the continent’s emerging robotaxi market.
The vehicles will be based on Lucid’s upcoming midsize platform and are expected to use Nvidia’s Hyperion autonomous-driving technology. The companies are targeting SAE Level 4 autonomy, allowing the vehicles to operate without human control within designated conditions.
Bolt plans to operate the autonomous fleet and integrate the vehicles into its ride-hailing platform. The company is also targeting 100,000 autonomous vehicles on its platform by 2035, although no specific timeline or investment figure has been disclosed for the 25,000-vehicle rollout.
The partnership comes as European cities face growing interest in driverless mobility, alongside regulatory and safety challenges. Bolt and Lucid said they will work with technology partners and European regulators to support the deployment.
