The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has threatened a total nationwide shutdown of public universities if outstanding salaries and other financial obligations owed to its members are not addressed.

The union said the continued delay in payment has created growing frustration among academic staff and could force lecturers to withdraw their services.

ASUU’s warning raises concerns over another disruption to academic activities across Nigerian universities, with students potentially affected if the dispute is not resolved.

The union is calling on the Federal Government to urgently address the issues and prevent a fresh crisis in the university system.
