Chinese artificial intelligence startup DeepSeek has hired CITIC Securities to prepare for a potential listing on Shanghai’s STAR Market, with the company aiming to begin the IPO process this year, according to people familiar with the matter.
The move signals progress in DeepSeek’s plans to raise fresh funds for computing infrastructure, AI model development and recruitment as competition with Chinese and U.S. rivals intensifies. The timing, size and valuation of the planned offering have not been decided.
DeepSeek was valued at more than $50 billion after raising about $7.4 billion in June. A further funding round could value the company at around $75 billion.
The IPO push comes as other Chinese AI firms, including Z.AI, MiniMax and Moonshot, also pursue public listings to finance rising AI development costs.
