Apple has unveiled a new 14-inch MacBook Pro and an updated iMac powered by its latest M6 chip, promising faster graphics performance and improved artificial intelligence (AI) processing.
The new computers highlight Apple’s growing focus on on-device AI, which allows compatible tasks to run directly on devices rather than relying entirely on cloud-based services.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at $1,999, while the updated iMac has a starting price of $1,499 in the United States.
Pre-orders begin on October 28 in 35 countries and regions, including the United States. Both products are scheduled to become available on November 6, 2026.
Apple says the new MacBook Pro delivers up to 30% faster graphics performance than its M5-powered predecessor, offering improvements for demanding professional applications.
The company also claims the laptop provides up to 25% faster AI performance, supporting compatible applications used for content creation, software development and other AI-assisted tasks.
Apple says the new MacBook Pro offers up to 24 hours of battery life, marking the longest battery life yet in a Mac.
Meanwhile, the updated iMac delivers up to five times faster on-device AI performance compared with the previous M4-powered model, according to Apple.
The iMac retains its all-in-one desktop design, targeting users who need a computer for office productivity, creative work and everyday computing.
On-device AI can reduce reliance on internet connectivity for supported tasks and may improve response times. However, performance and privacy benefits depend on the applications and how they process data.
The launches come ahead of Apple’s scheduled “Pro and tell” event in Los Angeles on October 28.
The event has drawn attention following reports that Apple could introduce its first touchscreen MacBook Pro, although the company has not confirmed that development in the announcements covered here.
The new releases arrive as technology companies compete to build computers with faster processors and more capable AI features.
With the M6 chip, Apple is positioning its latest MacBook Pro and iMac as options for users seeking improved computing performance and more powerful on-device AI capabilities.
