Russia has not ruled out restarting trilateral peace talks with Ukraine and the United States, the Kremlin said on Monday, as Washington steps up efforts to revive negotiations aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the comments after U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner visited Moscow and Kyiv over the weekend as part of renewed diplomatic efforts.

Asked whether three-way talks could resume, Peskov said Moscow was open to the possibility but that it was too early to discuss when or where another meeting would take place.

“We do not rule out the resumption of this trilateral format, but it is still too early to speak of the venue and exact dates,” Peskov told reporters.

He declined to provide details about the latest U.S. peace proposals or identify the main issues still blocking an agreement.

Peskov also said the Kremlin did not rule out a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss the U.S. envoys’ recent diplomatic mission.

He praised Washington’s efforts, saying any attempts to advance negotiations represented a step towards peace and that Putin valued Trump’s commitment to ending the conflict.

“President Putin himself has said that he holds President Trump’s efforts in high regard,” Peskov said.

Moscow had not yet received information about the outcome of the U.S. envoys’ meetings with Ukrainian officials during their visit to Kyiv on Sunday, Peskov added.

The latest diplomatic push comes after earlier negotiations stalled, with major disagreements between Moscow and Kyiv continuing to complicate efforts to reach a settlement.
