Hull City have reached a verbal agreement to sign English right back Brooke Norton Cuffy from Italian side Genoa in a deal worth €14 million, marking another major addition to the club’s squad.
The agreement was reached on transfer deadline day as Hull moved to secure the 22 year old defender, who is set to return to English football after two seasons in Italy.
Norton Cuffy has emerged as one of Hull’s key targets during the final stages of the transfer window, with the club eventually reaching an agreement with Genoa after negotiations over the defender’s future.
The transfer is understood to be worth around £12 million, making Norton Cuffy one of Hull’s notable investments as they continue to strengthen their squad for the new Premier League campaign.
The right back developed through Arsenal’s academy and gained valuable senior experience during loan spells with Lincoln City, Rotherham United, Coventry City and Millwall before joining Genoa in 2024.
His performances in Italy have helped establish him as a promising young full back, while his ability to contribute both defensively and going forward has increased his appeal to English clubs.
Norton Cuffy has also represented England at youth level and was part of the England Under 21 setup, further highlighting his development as a player.
Hull’s move for the defender comes as the club continues to reshape its squad following its return to the Premier League. His arrival is expected to provide additional competition and depth at right back while offering the team greater attacking threat from the wide areas.
Arsenal are also expected to benefit from the transfer because of a sell on clause included when Norton Cuffy left the club for Genoa in 2024.
Although an agreement has been reached between Hull and Genoa, the transfer still requires the completion of formal procedures, including the necessary paperwork and medical before it can be officially confirmed.
If completed, Norton Cuffy will become the latest addition to Hull’s ambitious recruitment drive as the club prepares for the demands of Premier League football.
