The National Business and Technical Examinations Board has announced September 10, 2026, as the deadline for registration for its 2026 November/December certificate examinations.
The deadline applies to candidates seeking to sit for the National Business Certificate, National Technical Certificate, Advanced National Business Certificate and Advanced National Technical Certificate examinations.
Registration for the examinations commenced on August 10, giving prospective candidates one month to complete the process and meet the board’s requirements.
However, candidates registering for the December Modular Trades Certificate Examination have been given additional time, with the registration window scheduled to remain open until September 30, 2026.
The board urged prospective candidates, schools, technical and vocational institutions, as well as apprenticeship centres, to ensure that registration is completed within the applicable deadlines.
The examination body also advised candidates to obtain registration information and complete the process through authorised channels to avoid errors, delays or other complications that could arise from using unofficial platforms.
The registration fees vary according to the examination category. Candidates registering for the National Business Certificate or National Technical Certificate are required to pay N22,500, while those registering for the Advanced National Business Certificate or Advanced National Technical Certificate are to pay N25,500.
Candidates for the December Modular Trades Certificate Examination will pay N6,000.
The examinations are part of the board’s mandate to provide competency based assessment and certification in business and technical education. The qualifications are designed to recognise practical and technical skills while supporting the development of a skilled workforce.
The latest registration window is particularly important for candidates seeking certification through technical and vocational education pathways, as the certificates can provide opportunities for further education, employment and self employment.
Candidates are therefore expected to complete their registration early rather than wait until the final days of the exercise. Early completion could also give applicants sufficient time to resolve issues relating to personal information, examination centres, biometric requirements and other registration details.
The official NABTEB Nov/Dec registration portal is currently available for candidates to begin or complete their registration.
With the September 10 deadline approaching, candidates who have not yet completed registration are advised to take immediate steps to avoid missing the examination cycle. Those applying for the December Modular Trades Certificate Examination should also note the separate September 30 closing date.
The board has continued to emphasise the importance of timely compliance with its registration procedures as part of efforts to ensure a smooth examination process and proper certification of successful candidates.
