The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, at the historic Rumfa Palace in Kano.
Yilwatda visited the monarch on Saturday, August 22, 2026, shortly after Sanusi returned from Abuja. The two reportedly held a private, closed-door meeting at the palace.
The details of the discussions were not made public. A close associate of the Emir, Muhammad Dallatu, confirmed the meeting and said he could not disclose what was discussed because it was a private engagement.
The visit comes as political activities increase ahead of the 2027 general elections and against the background of the long-running Kano Emirate dispute.
Sanusi was reinstated as Emir of Kano in 2024 after the Kano State Government repealed the law that created five emirates in the state. His reinstatement, however, did not completely end the dispute involving supporters of the rival emirate camp.
The meeting between the APC national chairman and the influential Kano monarch is therefore expected to attract political attention, particularly as parties begin preparations for the 2027 elections.
