The All Progressives Congress, APC, has warned Nigerians against allowing political disagreements ahead of the 2027 general elections to create divisions, tension and hostility among citizens.

The party stressed that political contests should be viewed as part of the democratic process and should not be allowed to destroy the unity and peaceful coexistence of Nigerians.

As political activities continue to intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, concerns have continued to grow over divisions within political parties, disagreements among politicians and the possibility of heated campaigns.

The APC leadership urged politicians and their supporters to prioritise peace, tolerance and national interest, regardless of their political affiliations.

The warning comes amid increasing political realignments and efforts by various parties and political figures to strengthen their positions ahead of the elections. Recent developments have also highlighted divisions within the opposition camp and growing competition among political actors.

The party maintained that Nigerians should remain united even when they support different candidates or political parties, stressing that elections would come and go while the country would remain.

The APC further expressed confidence in its chances in the 2027 elections, pointing to the policies and reforms of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration as part of the reasons it believes Nigerians will support the party.

Political observers have, however, continued to call on all parties to conduct their campaigns responsibly and avoid hate speech, violence and personal attacks that could threaten the peace of the country.

The 2027 election is expected to be highly competitive, with the ruling APC and opposition parties already positioning themselves for the contest.
