Senator Ali Ndume has urged the Nigerian military to intensify ongoing efforts to rescue victims abducted by insurgents and other criminal elements in Borno State.
Ndume made the call during a visit to the Theatre Command in Maiduguri, where he expressed concern over the prolonged captivity of some abductees, including schoolchildren and other residents.
The senator stressed the need for security agencies to deploy all available resources and intelligence to locate the victims and secure their safe release.
According to him, the continued captivity of citizens is a serious concern that requires urgent and coordinated action by the military and other security agencies.
Ndume commended troops for their sacrifices in the fight against insurgency but called for renewed efforts to ensure that those still in captivity are rescued and reunited with their families.
He also urged communities to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible information that could assist ongoing rescue operations and help prevent further abductions.
The senator said the safe return of abducted citizens should remain a major priority as security forces continue operations across Borno and other affected parts of the Northeast.
