The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented a Certificate of Return to Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, following his victory in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
The governor’s Special Assistant on Digital Media, Olalekan Badmus, announced the development in a post on X on Wednesday.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the presentation formally validates Adeleke’s victory and re-election mandate for a second term in office.
INEC had declared Adeleke the winner of the election after he secured victory in 19 of the state’s 30 Local Government Areas.
His closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won in 11 Local Government Areas.
The presentation of the Certificate of Return marks the next formal step in the electoral process following INEC’s declaration of Adeleke as the winner of the governorship election.
