Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has described his victory in the 2026 governorship election as a triumph for democracy and the people of the state.
Adeleke spoke after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him the winner of the August 15 governorship poll.
The governor thanked the people of Osun for renewing their confidence in his administration, saying the outcome reflected their choice at the ballot box.
Adeleke secured 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, All Progressives Congress candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
The incumbent won 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured victories in 11 LGAs.
Following his re-election, Adeleke pledged to continue pursuing policies and programmes aimed at improving infrastructure, education, agriculture and other areas of development across the state.
The governor also appealed for unity among political actors and residents, saying the election was over and attention should now shift towards governance and delivering on the renewed mandate.
