Former presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, has praised the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Joash Amupitan, for his humility and the commission’s transparent handling of the Osun State governorship election.
Shehu said the conduct of the election had changed his earlier perception of Amupitan’s ability to lead the electoral body. He also commended INEC for the smooth uploading of election results to its Result Viewing Portal, IReV.
According to Shehu, the positive assessments from civil society organisations and election observers further demonstrated improvements in the country’s electoral process.
He described Amupitan’s decision to avoid publicly celebrating the commission’s performance as a sign of humility and restraint.
