The Kano State Government has banned the administration of intravenous (IV) fluids and blood transfusions at patent and proprietary medicine stores across the state.
The directive is aimed at preventing unsafe medical practices and protecting residents from potentially dangerous procedures being carried out outside properly equipped healthcare facilities.
The government said patent medicine vendors are not authorised to perform procedures that require trained medical personnel, appropriate equipment and adequate emergency care.
Authorities are expected to enforce the directive and take action against operators who violate the regulations.
The move is part of broader efforts to strengthen healthcare standards and safeguard public health across Kano State.
