The Young Progressives Party (YPP) has commended the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, for what it described as courage, professionalism and institutional independence during the Osun governorship election process.
The party also praised security agencies and the people of Osun State for contributing to a peaceful electoral process and defending democratic values.
According to a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by the YPP National Publicity Secretary, Martins Egbeola, the party said Amupitan’s commitment to electoral integrity was important in strengthening public confidence in Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
The party congratulated Osun State Governor, Sen. Ademola Adeleke, on his victory, describing the outcome as a reflection of the choice of the electorate.
Egbeola said the result demonstrated that candidates with grassroots support, public acceptance and strong social connections could win elections through democratic participation, regardless of their political platform.
“The people have spoken through their ballots, and their mandate must be respected,” he said.
YPP urged Adeleke to treat his second term as an opportunity to provide inclusive governance and accelerate development across Osun State.
The party called for improved infrastructure, stronger education and healthcare systems, increased opportunities for youths and equitable distribution of democratic dividends.
It also commended security agencies for maintaining peace during and after the election, saying their efforts helped protect citizens and prevent further escalation of tensions.
YPP urged political actors and other stakeholders to accept the election outcome in the spirit of democracy and work together for peace, stability and development in Osun State.
