AI company Anthropic is reportedly preparing for a potentially record-breaking initial public offering, with its valuation expected to depend heavily on an ambitious forecast of $190 billion to $200 billion in revenue by 2028.

According to Reuters, investors and Wall Street bankers are increasingly valuing Anthropic based on its future growth potential rather than its current financial performance. The company’s rapid expansion and strong demand for its AI products have fueled expectations of a massive public market debut.

The projections highlight the enormous expectations surrounding the AI industry. However, Anthropic will need to maintain exceptional growth while managing the huge costs of AI infrastructure, computing power and talent.

If the company can meet its ambitious revenue targets, Anthropic could command one of the largest valuations ever seen in an IPO. But falling short of those forecasts could raise concerns about whether the company’s valuation has moved ahead of its underlying business performance.
