Nigerian Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has celebrated the re-election of his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, as Governor of Osun State.

Davido reacted shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate, winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

Taking to his official X account, the singer shared a brief message celebrating his uncle’s victory, writing, “We did it, Uncle.”

Adeleke secured 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who polled 444,815 votes.

The result gave the incumbent governor a winning margin of 66,252 votes and secured another term in office.

Davido has been actively involved in supporting his uncle’s political campaigns and had repeatedly expressed confidence in Adeleke’s chances ahead of the election.

In the days leading to the poll, the singer used his social media platforms to campaign for the governor and respond to political figures who criticised his uncle’s administration.

Following the declaration, Davido’s latest reaction was accompanied by images and videos celebrating the outcome, reflecting the close relationship between the musician and the governor.

The election result also represents another significant political victory for the Adeleke family, which has maintained a strong political presence in Osun State.

Adeleke’s victory came after a competitive campaign involving several candidates and intense political activity across the state’s 30 local government areas.

The governor is expected to begin preparations for his second term with issues including infrastructure, education, healthcare, employment and economic development likely to remain among the major expectations from residents.

For Davido, the outcome marks another political success for his uncle, whom he has publicly supported through previous electoral contests.

The singer’s simple message, “We did it, Uncle,” quickly drew attention online as supporters of the governor celebrated the election result.

Adeleke’s re-election is also expected to have implications for the political realignments ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, as parties and political actors assess the outcome of the Osun contest.
