Nigerian footballers Samuel Chukwueze, Victor Boniface and Maduka Okoye delivered impressive performances for their respective clubs over the weekend, providing an encouraging start to preparations for the 2026/27 season.
Chukwueze was the standout performer, scoring once and providing two assists as AC Milan defeated Manchester United 4-2 in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.
The Super Eagles winger played the full match and responded to United’s early opener by calmly finishing from a Goncalo Ramos lay-off to level the score.
After Manchester United regained the lead through Patrick Dorgu early in the second half, Chukwueze turned provider, setting up Alphadjo Cisse for Milan’s equaliser before creating another opportunity for Ramos, who headed the Italian side into the lead.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek later added Milan’s fourth goal to complete the victory.
The performance represents a timely boost for Chukwueze as he looks to establish himself under manager Ruben Amorim following his successful loan spell at Fulham last season.
Boniface also impressed during the weekend, continuing to demonstrate his attacking quality as he prepares for the new campaign.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Maduka Okoye kept a clean sheet for his club, providing another positive sign ahead of the 2026/27 season.
