Air Peace has disclosed that it lost about $42 million in revenue following repeated damage to its aircraft by ground-handling companies at Nigerian airports.

The airline said three of its aircraft were seriously damaged within the past 12 months, with two of the incidents occurring this year. The airline attributed the losses to what it described as poor handling by ground-handling companies.

Air Peace spokesperson, Efe Whiskey, said the airline’s aircraft are damaged on average twice a year by the two major ground-handling companies operating in the country — Skyway Aviation Handling Company Plc (SAHCO) and Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO).

According to the airline, the damage leaves affected aircraft out of service for repairs, resulting in cancelled or disrupted flights and significant revenue losses.

The disclosure comes amid ongoing concerns over the quality of ground-handling operations and their impact on Nigeria’s aviation industry.

Air Peace’s claims are expected to renew calls for stronger oversight and improved safety standards in aircraft ground-handling operations across Nigerian airports.
