Nearly 30 years after Tupac Shakur was killed in Las Vegas, former gang leader Duane “Keffe D” Davis is facing trial over the rapper’s death.

Shakur was shot in a drive-by attack on September 7, 1996, and died six days later at age 25. His killing remained unresolved for decades.

Prosecutors accuse Davis of helping organize the attack following a confrontation involving Shakur and members of Davis’ group. Davis has pleaded not guilty and has denied being the shooter.

Davis was arrested in 2023 after investigators revived the long-running case.

The trial could reveal new details about one of hip-hop’s most famous unsolved killings. The court will ultimately decide whether Davis is guilty of the charges.
