Air taxi company Joby Aviation has agreed to acquire U.S. defense technology firm Resonant Sciences for about $500 million.
The deal includes $450 million in cash and $50 million in Joby shares and is expected to close in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approval.
Resonant Sciences develops defense technologies including antennas, radomes and aircraft testing systems. Joby said the acquisition will strengthen its defense business as it continues developing electric and autonomous aircraft.
The deal highlights Joby’s push to expand beyond commercial air taxis into the growing military and defense aviation market.
