Meta Platforms has unveiled a new artificial intelligence powered coding application, intensifying competition with industry leaders OpenAI and Anthropic in the rapidly growing market for AI assisted software development.
The new tool, known as Muse Code, is designed to help developers perform complex software engineering tasks, including planning, writing, debugging and validating code across large and sophisticated codebases. The application is powered by Meta’s latest Muse Spark 1.2 AI model and is currently available in beta.
Meta said the coding assistant is capable of handling long running development tasks using multiple AI agents simultaneously, allowing developers to automate repetitive processes and improve productivity. The platform also features a persistent activity log that enables users to resume work without restarting projects after interruptions.
The launch marks Meta’s latest effort to strengthen its position in the artificial intelligence industry, where competition has intensified among major technology companies seeking to commercialise AI products. Demand for AI coding assistants has grown significantly as businesses increasingly adopt automation to accelerate software development and reduce engineering costs.
Meta has adopted a pay as you go pricing model for Muse Code, a strategy aimed at attracting developers and enterprise customers by offering a lower cost alternative to competing AI coding platforms. The company believes affordable pricing and improved coding capabilities will encourage wider adoption of its AI ecosystem.
Industry analysts say the introduction of Muse Code reflects the growing importance of AI driven software engineering, with technology companies investing heavily in advanced coding assistants capable of handling increasingly complex programming tasks.
The latest release underscores the fierce competition among leading AI developers as they race to deliver more capable and commercially viable artificial intelligence tools for businesses and software engineers worldwide.
