The Katsina State Hisbah Board has directed its personnel to refrain from conducting raids on hotels, private residences and other premises without obtaining valid court orders, reaffirming its commitment to operating within the provisions of the law.

The directive is aimed at strengthening professionalism, protecting citizens’ rights and ensuring that all enforcement activities are carried out in accordance with due process and established legal procedures.

The Hisbah Board stated that the new measure is intended to promote accountability among its personnel while preventing abuses that could undermine public confidence in the agency’s operations.

Officials emphasized that enforcement actions must be guided by respect for the rule of law, stressing that officers are expected to obtain the necessary legal authorisation before entering private properties or carrying out operations that could affect residents.

The board also urged members of the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies while assuring residents that the rights and dignity of individuals would remain a priority in the discharge of its responsibilities.

The directive has been welcomed by stakeholders as a step towards enhancing transparency, safeguarding civil liberties and promoting lawful enforcement practices across Katsina State.
