Prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dr. Jalo Jalingo, has called on Muslims in Taraba State to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, urging them to vote for the party’s candidates at all levels.

In a post published on his official Facebook page, the cleric appealed to Muslim voters to back the APC in the presidential, governorship, National Assembly, and State House of Assembly elections. He described the move as being in the “best interest” (maslaha) of the Muslim community in Taraba State.

According to Sheikh Jalo, the call is based on his assessment of what would best serve the welfare and long-term interests of Muslims in the state. He encouraged eligible voters to participate actively in the electoral process and support the APC across all elective positions.

The statement has since generated reactions on social media, with supporters commending the cleric’s position while others maintained that electoral choices should be guided by individual convictions, candidates’ competence, and policy agendas.

As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum, endorsements and public statements by religious, traditional, and community leaders are expected to remain part of the broader political discourse.

The APC and other political parties are yet to formally unveil their candidates for the 2027 elections, but consultations and alignments continue across the country as stakeholders position themselves for the polls.
