The Adamawa State Scholarship Trust Fund (ASSTF) has commenced the screening of shortlisted candidates for its Türkiye International Scholarship Programme, marking another significant step in the state government’s commitment to expanding access to quality education and developing highly skilled manpower.

The screening exercise, which began at the board’s headquarters in Yola, attracted hundreds of applicants seeking to secure scholarship opportunities to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies in various disciplines at reputable universities in the Republic of Türkiye.

Speaking during the exercise, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Adamawa State Scholarship Trust Fund, Dr. Joshua T. Kwanam, said the screening process was designed to ensure that only qualified and deserving candidates are selected based on merit, academic excellence and compliance with the programme’s eligibility requirements.

Dr. Kwanam assured applicants that the selection process would be transparent, fair and credible, emphasizing that the board remains committed to giving every eligible candidate an equal opportunity to compete for the scholarship.

He urged all applicants to cooperate with screening officials by presenting original copies of their academic certificates, identification documents and other required credentials for proper verification, warning that any attempt to present false information or forged documents would lead to automatic disqualification.

According to him, the scholarship programme forms part of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s vision of investing in human capital development through quality education and international exposure for the state’s young people.

“The objective is to produce graduates who will return home with the knowledge, skills and global experience needed to contribute meaningfully to the development of Adamawa State and Nigeria as a whole,” Dr. Kwanam said.

He noted that beneficiaries of the programme would have the opportunity to study in critical fields including engineering, medicine, agriculture, information technology, education, environmental sciences and other areas considered essential to the state’s economic and social development.

Several applicants expressed appreciation to the Adamawa State Government for creating opportunities for young people to study abroad, describing the initiative as a life changing opportunity that would enable them to compete globally and contribute to nation building upon completion of their studies.

The Adamawa State Government has continued to prioritize education as one of the key pillars of its development agenda through sustained investments in scholarships, educational infrastructure and capacity building programmes aimed at improving learning outcomes and empowering the next generation of professionals.

The screening exercise is expected to continue over the coming days, after which successful candidates will proceed to subsequent stages of the selection process before the final list of scholarship beneficiaries is announced.
