BAUCHI – Bauchi State Governor, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has secured a $91.6 million loan facility from the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development, EBID, to finance 24 road and bridge projects across the state.

The announcement was made on Wednesday during a press briefing at the Government House, Bauchi, following the signing of the agreement with EBID officials.

Gov. Bala described the facility as a “major milestone” in his administration’s drive to transform infrastructure and connect rural communities to markets and essential services.

According to the Governor, “This $91.6 million investment will enable us to construct and rehabilitate 24 critical road and bridge projects that will open up Bauchi, boost trade, create jobs, and improve the lives of our people.”

He added that the projects were carefully selected to cover all three senatorial zones and will prioritize areas with high agricultural output and population density.

The Commissioner for Works and Transport, Hon. Ibrahim Gambo Galadima, said the ministry has already completed designs and procurement processes, and work is expected to commence before the end of Q3 2025.

Some of the key projects include the construction of rural access roads, urban link bridges, and the rehabilitation of deteriorated highways to ease transportation of goods and persons.

Stakeholders and civil society groups have commended the move, saying improved road infrastructure will reduce travel time, lower the cost of goods, and attract investors to the state.

The loan is part of EBID’s regional integration and infrastructure development mandate to support member states.
