The All Progressives Congress (APC) has uploaded the names of its governorship candidates and running mates for 27 of the 28 states where governorship elections are scheduled, signaling that the party has resolved most of the disputes arising from its recently concluded governorship primaries.
Taraba State remains the only exception, as consultations continue over the selection of the party’s deputy governorship candidate. The unresolved disagreement has reportedly delayed the submission of the state’s governorship ticket, making Taraba the last state yet to complete the process ahead of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadline.
According to sources within the party, a crucial stakeholders’ meeting is expected to take place in Abuja to address the outstanding issues and reach a consensus on the deputy governorship candidate.
Party leaders are optimistic that the consultations will produce a resolution in time, allowing the APC to submit its Taraba governorship ticket before the INEC deadline.
The delay explains why the name of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas does not appear on the APC’s final list of governorship candidates submitted so far, as the party is still finalizing its complete ticket for the state.
