The Awo Idemili Community UK has launched an immigration enlightenment initiative to provide Nigerians with accurate information on United Kingdom immigration procedures and help them avoid common visa related challenges.
The community’s Chairman, Chief Chris Onumonu, disclosed this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, in Abuja on Monday, announcing that the initiative would be known as the Awo Idemili Immigration Educational Forum UK.
According to Onumonu, the forum will provide regular education on immigration processes, legal migration pathways and reliable sources of information in line with UK immigration and visa regulations.
He said the initiative, although established by the Awo Idemili Community UK, would benefit Nigerians living in the United Kingdom and members of the wider Igbo community who require credible guidance on immigration matters.
Onumonu said misinformation and inadequate knowledge of immigration procedures had contributed to avoidable difficulties for many migrants, stressing that community based enlightenment was necessary to help people make informed decisions and comply with UK regulations.
He added that the community had also been restructured to promote unity, cooperation and mutual support among members across the United Kingdom.
As part of the restructuring, Asa Blessing Chijekwu was appointed Publicity and Media Personnel, while four committees were established to develop strategies for community development and member support.
The chairman reaffirmed the community’s commitment to promoting unity, education, empowerment and lawful migration through sustained public enlightenment programmes.
