Former Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola (SAN), has explained why he does not offer public advice to President Bola Tinubu through television interviews or other media platforms, insisting that important counsel is better delivered privately.

Fashola said his relationship with President Tinubu allows him to communicate directly with the President whenever the need arises, stressing that public commentary is not always the most effective means of offering guidance.

According to the former Lagos State governor, leadership requires honest and confidential discussions rather than public criticism. He maintained that he would not use television appearances to advise the President on matters that could be discussed through established channels.

He noted that public officials and political leaders often have access to private platforms where sensitive national issues can be discussed constructively, adding that not every opinion or recommendation should be aired in the media.

Fashola further explained that while he remains committed to the country’s progress, his approach is to provide advice discreetly whenever necessary. He said meaningful contributions to governance do not always require public attention and that effective communication with leaders can take place away from television cameras.

The former minister reaffirmed his support for democratic governance and stressed the importance of focusing on policies and institutional development that would improve the lives of Nigerians.

His remarks have generated reactions among political observers, with many describing his position as a reflection of his long-standing working relationship with President Tinubu and his preference for private engagement over public commentary on government affairs.
