The Lagos State Government has announced the introduction of automated childcare services to improve the administration, monitoring and protection of children in orphanage homes across the state.
According to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, the Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende, disclosed this at the 2026 stakeholders’ meeting on adoption, guardianship and fostering matters held in Ikeja.
Ogunlende said the digital system would improve accountability, transparency, record management, monitoring and coordination among agencies involved in child welfare administration.
The Country Manager of Both Ends Believing, BEB, Mr Silas Gyang, said the organisation’s partnership with Lagos State would introduce software to automate the activities of orphanage home operators.
He said the system would help transform orphanage homes into child placement centres, promote adoption and prepare children for life after leaving the homes.
Gyang added that the platform would enable the government to monitor orphanages more effectively, improve data based decision making, combat child trafficking and identify homes involved in improper practices.
He said the system would also ensure that the records of every child remained accessible and protected from loss caused by human error or natural disasters.
The stakeholders called for stronger partnerships to improve child welfare services and ensure better protection and opportunities for vulnerable children in Lagos State.
