The proposed Gembu Airport project has recorded a major step forward following the visit of a delegation of engineers from the Federal Ministry of Aviation to the Mambilla Plateau in Taraba State.
The delegation was received by His Royal Majesty, the Paramount First Class Chief of Mambilla, Dr. Shehu Audu Baju II, during a meeting held on Tuesday.
Leading the delegation were the Wazirin Mambilla and Federal Commissioner representing Taraba State at the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Senator Abba Bashir Marafa, alongside the Madakin Mambilla, Abdulrahman Usman Leme, Personal Assistant to the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
According to those involved in the visit, the engagement was part of ongoing activities surrounding the proposed Gembu Airport project, which they said has received presidential approval.
If completed, the airport is expected to improve air connectivity to the Mambilla Plateau, boost tourism, facilitate trade and investment, and support economic growth across Taraba State and the North-East region.
Stakeholders described the development as a significant milestone for the Mambilla community, expressing optimism that the project would accelerate infrastructure development and unlock the area’s economic potential.
