The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 32 year old suspect, Abubakar Musa, over the alleged murder of Nathaniel Yusuf, 30, in Jambutu Ward, Yola North Local Government Area.
According to a report by The Punch, the arrest followed a complaint lodged at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Kofare, by Grace Yusuf, the deceased’s sister, who alleged that her brother was brutally attacked by the suspect.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said officers immediately responded to the distress call, rescued the victim from the scene and rushed him to the Specialist Hospital, Jimeta, for emergency treatment. The suspect was arrested at the scene of the incident.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim sustained severe injuries after he was allegedly attacked with a stick. The injuries included fractures to both legs, his right hand and serious head injuries.
Despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life, Nathaniel Yusuf was later confirmed dead while receiving treatment at the hospital.
Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Kabiru Hassan, directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yola, to take over the case for a comprehensive investigation and ensure the suspect is prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The police said the deceased’s body has been deposited at the hospital for an autopsy, while investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice and urged residents to remain peaceful and cooperate with law enforcement by providing credible information that could assist ongoing investigations.
