Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has unveiled a comprehensive strategy aimed at positioning the state as a leading destination for manufacturing and private sector investment, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for industrial growth and economic diversification.
The governor outlined the roadmap during an engagement with manufacturers, investors and business leaders, where he highlighted the critical role of the private sector in driving economic development, job creation and sustainable prosperity across the state.
Mutfwang said his administration is implementing policies designed to remove barriers to investment, improve infrastructure and strengthen partnerships with local and international businesses. He noted that Plateau possesses enormous economic potential, particularly in agriculture, solid minerals, tourism and manufacturing, which can be harnessed through strategic collaboration with private investors.
According to the governor, the state government is prioritising improvements in road networks, electricity supply, security and access to industrial facilities to make Plateau more competitive as an investment destination. He added that efforts are also being intensified to streamline business registration processes and improve the ease of doing business.
Mutfwang urged manufacturers to take advantage of the state’s abundant natural resources, skilled workforce and strategic location to establish industries capable of adding value to raw materials and boosting local production.
He stressed that industrialisation remains a key pillar of his administration’s economic agenda, explaining that expanding the manufacturing sector would reduce unemployment, increase internally generated revenue and stimulate growth across various sectors of the economy.
The governor also reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining peace and security, describing them as essential foundations for attracting and sustaining private investment. He assured investors that the government would continue working closely with security agencies and community stakeholders to preserve the stable environment required for business operations.
Representatives of the manufacturing community welcomed the initiative, describing it as a positive step toward strengthening public private collaboration and unlocking Plateau State’s economic potential. They called for consistent policy implementation and sustained dialogue between government and the private sector to ensure long term investment confidence.
Economic analysts believe the proposed roadmap could significantly enhance Plateau’s industrial capacity if supported by adequate infrastructure, transparent governance and investor friendly policies. They noted that increased manufacturing activities would not only create employment opportunities but also promote value addition, expand exports and contribute to Nigeria’s broader economic diversification efforts.
With the renewed focus on private sector development, Plateau State is positioning itself to attract new investments, stimulate industrial expansion and build a more resilient economy capable of delivering lasting benefits to businesses and residents alike.
