A man breached security at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, the home of NBC Studios, and approached “Today” co-host Craig Melvin before being detained by security personnel, authorities said.

The incident occurred inside the Manhattan building that houses NBC’s television studios, where Melvin was present for broadcasting activities. Security staff quickly intervened after the individual gained unauthorized access and approached the television host. No injuries were reported, and the situation was brought under control within minutes.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) said the man was taken into custody for questioning as investigators worked to determine how he entered the building and whether he intended to target Melvin or any other individual. Authorities have not publicly identified the suspect or announced any charges.

NBC said the safety of its employees, guests and visitors remains its highest priority and confirmed that it is cooperating fully with law enforcement as the investigation continues. The company declined to comment further on its internal security procedures.

The incident has prompted a review of security measures at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, one of New York City’s busiest media and office complexes, which hosts daily television broadcasts and attracts thousands of visitors.

Police said there is no indication of a broader threat to the public, and normal operations at NBC Studios resumed shortly after the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities examine surveillance footage and interview witnesses to establish the circumstances surrounding the security breach.
