Humanitarian agencies have renewed calls for unrestricted access to aid in Gaza, warning that the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate as shortages of food, clean water, medicine and fuel place civilians at increasing risk.
Relief organisations say millions of people remain dependent on humanitarian assistance, while ongoing hostilities and restrictions on aid deliveries continue to hamper efforts to reach vulnerable communities across the territory.
The United Nations warned that hospitals are struggling to function because of dwindling medical supplies, damaged infrastructure and limited access to fuel needed to operate essential equipment. Aid workers also reported growing concerns over malnutrition, particularly among children and other vulnerable groups.
UN officials called on all parties to facilitate the safe and sustained delivery of humanitarian assistance in accordance with international humanitarian law. They stressed that civilians, humanitarian workers and medical facilities must be protected at all times.
International agencies continue to appeal for greater global support to address the worsening humanitarian crisis, warning that without a significant increase in aid deliveries, living conditions for civilians are likely to deteriorate further in the coming weeks.
The renewed appeal comes as diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire continue, with mediators seeking an agreement that would allow humanitarian operations to expand and provide greater protection for civilians.
