Traditional and community leaders in Gassol Local Government Area have been cautioned against harbouring people with questionable characters in their domains.

The Chairman of Gassol Local Government Council, Abubakar Saidu Usman, gave the warning during an interview with our zonal correspondent in Mutum Biyu.

He said the ember months coincide with the harvest period, when people from different parts of the country travel in search of manual jobs. He therefore urged residents to be careful when engaging labourers to work on their farmlands.

Saidu disclosed that he had already held a security meeting with traditional rulers and heads of security agencies in the local government area to discuss measures aimed at ensuring the protection of lives and property.

He described the harvest period as a time when Gassol Local Government usually experiences some misunderstandings between farmers and herders.

The chairman added that he had met with leaders of Fulani herders to discuss the need to promote peace and stability during and after the farming season.

He called on residents of the local government area to remain law abiding and support the peace building initiatives of Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas in the state.

Saidu also urged residents to remain security conscious and report suspicious persons to the appropriate authorities for prompt action.

He warned against indiscriminate bush burning and advised farmers to complete their harvest activities quickly to safeguard their farm produce.
