Super Falcons forward Gift Monday has officially joined Boston Legacy after completing a reported record $500,000 transfer from Washington Spirit in the National Women’s Soccer League.
Boston Legacy announced the signing on its social media platforms, confirming that the 24-year-old Nigerian international has signed a five-year contract running until December 2030. She will wear the number 22 shirt at her new club.
The move follows an agreement announced on October 8, with Washington Spirit reportedly receiving $500,000 in transfer threshold funds and retaining a 20 per cent sell-on clause.
Monday joined Washington Spirit from Spanish side UD Tenerife in March 2025 and quickly established herself as an important attacking option.
She made her debut on April 12, 2025, coming off the bench in a 2-0 victory over Racing Louisville. A week later, she earned her first start and scored the decisive goal in a 1-0 win over league leaders Orlando Pride.
One of her standout performances came on September 28, when she scored a hat-trick within the opening 36 minutes of a 4-0 victory over Houston Dash, setting a league record for the fastest hat-trick from kickoff.
She departed Washington Spirit with 12 goals and three assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.
Before moving abroad, Monday played for COD United Amazons, FC Robo and Bayelsa Queens in Nigeria. She won the Nigerian Women’s Football League title with Bayelsa Queens in the 2021/22 season and finished as the league’s top scorer.
Her performances earned her a move to Tenerife in September 2022 before she continued her career in the United States.
The transfer represents another significant step in the Nigerian forward’s career as she prepares to lead Boston Legacy’s attacking ambitions.
