A 15 year old former pupil killed a school employee and injured two others in a knife attack at a primary school in northeastern Poland on Thursday, authorities said.
The attack happened around 9 a.m. in Leszczydol Nowiny, northeast of Warsaw. The victim was a 37 year old woman who worked as a caretaker. The attacker was detained by police.
Authorities said the teenager was wearing a helmet mounted camera and carrying three knives. Police are investigating whether the attack was connected to an internet challenge.
The incident came a day after a 19 year old injured 10 people, including himself, in a separate school attack in Ostroleka. Police also detained a 17 year old in Sierpc on suspicion of planning an attack.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk warned of a possible copycat pattern and ordered police to visit schools daily to help prevent further violence.
Two teachers were injured while trying to restrain the attacker. Police said the 17 year old detained in Sierpc had searched online for information about organising a violent attack and was found carrying two knives.
